American soprano Taylor J. White's extensive musical palette has contributed to her approach as an artist.

She joined OperaCreole's roster in 2022.

In addition to singing, she now serves as OperaCréole's Production and Event Coordinator.

She began her music career in jazz and Mississippi blues, performing as a featured soloist at the 2018 and 2020 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festivals in jazz and gospel.

 

She now specializes in Classical music and is a proud member of OperaCréole. White shares Leontyne Price’s fervor for promoting living composers, specifically those of African descent. In 2020, She premiered the role of Rose in a workshop of Roger Dickerson's musical, Preacher Man! Preacher Man! In February of 2023, Taylor J. White made her Mobile Opera debut as Jo in Let Freedom Sing by Bruce Adolphe.

 

White continues to perform with Opera Créole where she specializes in works by 19th century free composers of color, helping to bring their recently discovered and rarely performed music to the forefront of the Classical industry. In the wake of the pandemic,

 

She partnered with composer Dr. Maria Thompson Corley to create To Meditate in His Temple, a song cycle set to Biblical texts that were a comfort to White during the pandemic. Since its world premiere in October of 2021, White has continued to perform the cycle in hopes that it will serve as a source of peace and comfort to those still struggling in the wake of a global crisis.
